A Web Agency That Understands Africa. Built Here, Trusted Internationally
Africa's digital economy is one of the fastest-growing in the world. But most international agencies building for the African market don't actually understand it. Brela does. We are a Port Harcourt-based digital agency with a proven track record building digital products, brands, and marketing systems for African businesses, and for international organisations entering African markets.
The problem with non-African agencies building for African markets
There’s a gap that most international businesses discover too late. They hire a UK or US agency to build their Nigerian website or African marketing campaign — and the agency does technically competent work that completely misses the market. They don’t know that Nigerian users abandon checkout flows with too many steps. They don’t know that WhatsApp is a primary business communication tool. They don’t know which payment gateways Nigerians actually trust, how Nigerian consumers respond to price anchoring, or what trust signals matter in a market where online scams are a lived reality for buyers. Brela sits at the intersection of technical capability and genuine African market knowledge. We’ve built for Nigerian oil companies, South-South healthcare providers, West African fintech startups, and diaspora entrepreneurs. That context shapes every decision we make.

International clients we serve
International companies entering the Nigerian or West African market
You need a local digital presence — a website that speaks to Nigerian consumers, local SEO that helps you rank in Nigerian search results, and digital marketing that understands the platforms and messaging that resonate locally. We've done this for companies in oil & gas services, healthcare, logistics, and financial services.
NGOs and development organisations
We work with non-profits and development organisations that need professional digital infrastructure — websites, reporting platforms, stakeholder portals, and communications systems — that function reliably in African connectivity environments.
Pan-African startups
Building a product for multiple African markets? We understand the technical and design considerations for multi-country deployments — from multi-currency payment integration to content localisation and mobile-first architecture for varying network conditions.
Diaspora entrepreneurs
You're based in the UK, US, or Canada — but you're building something for Nigeria or Africa. You need a partner on the ground who understands both worlds: international professionalism and African market realities. That's exactly what Brela offers.
Global businesses needing African marketing
You have an existing product and you're expanding into Nigeria or West Africa. You need an agency that can run your SEO, social media, Google Ads, and content marketing — targeting African consumers in a way that actually converts.

- • Custom retainer scopes available on request
How the engagement works
Communication
We operate on West Africa Time (WAT, GMT+1) — compatible with UK business hours and providing meaningful overlap with US East Coast time zones. Primary communication is via email and scheduled video calls. We respond to project messages within the same business day.
Contracts and agreements
Every engagement is covered by a written service agreement. We're happy to work within your organisation's supplier onboarding process. NDAs are standard for any sensitive projects and are signed before any project details are shared.
Payments
International clients pay in USD via Wise, Payoneer, PayPal, or international bank transfer. Payment links are sent immediately. 50% deposit at project start, 50% on completion — or milestone-based for larger projects.
Intellectual property
All code, design files, and content created for your project is transferred to you in full at project completion. Brela retains no ownership or usage rights. This is covered explicitly in the service agreement.
Reporting
For retainer clients, monthly reports are delivered in written format covering work completed, metrics moved, and planned activity for the following month. Marketing retainers include GA4 and Search Console data.
The African market you can't afford to miss
Nigeria alone has over 220 million people — the largest population in Africa and the largest Black population on earth. Internet penetration is above 50% and growing. Mobile money and digital payments are accelerating. The Nigerian middle class is expanding. E-commerce grew by over 30% in the last three years. West Africa as a whole — Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and surrounding markets — represents a combined population of over 400 million people with growing digital adoption and underpenetrated market categories. The businesses and organisations building digital infrastructure in Africa right now are establishing positions that will be very difficult to displace. The cost of entry — in dollars — is significantly lower than comparable markets in Europe or North America. The opportunity is large, the competition is still relatively thin, and the upside is real. Brela can help you get into this market professionally, quickly, and with a partner that actually knows it.
