Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (‘AUP’) governs the use of the brela.agency website, any web hosting services provided by Brela Technologies & Media Limited, client portals and systems built or managed by Brela, and any other digital services where this AUP is referenced.

By using any of the above, you agree to comply with this AUP. Brela reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for any violation, without prior notice where necessary to protect the security or integrity of its systems or those of third parties.

1. Acceptable Uses

You may use Brela’s website and services for:

  • Accessing information about Brela’s products and services
  • Submitting project enquiries through official contact channels
  • Accessing client deliverables and project materials through designated portals
  • Downloading resources that are explicitly made available for download
  • Communicating with Brela staff on project-related matters
  • Using websites and applications built by Brela for their intended purpose

2. Prohibited Activities

2.1 Security and infrastructure — You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to Brela’s systems, client portals, servers, or databases
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Brela’s systems or infrastructure without express written authorisation
  • Introduce malware, ransomware, viruses, Trojan horses, worms, spyware, or any other malicious code
  • Conduct denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks
  • Attempt to intercept or monitor communications not intended for you
  • Use the Site or services to launch attacks on third-party systems

2.2 Content and communications — You must not transmit, distribute, or store content that:

  • Is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, or abusive
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of any person or entity
  • Constitutes unsolicited commercial communications (spam) sent through Brela’s systems
  • Misrepresents your identity or affiliation
  • Contains false or misleading information about Brela or its services
  • Violates the privacy of any third party

2.3 Data and system integrity — You must not:

  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from Brela’s website or client portals without written consent
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software provided by Brela
  • Attempt to access data that does not belong to you or for which you have not been granted access
  • Modify or delete data belonging to Brela or other users without authorisation
  • Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Site in a manner that places unreasonable load on servers

2.4 Legal and regulatory compliance — You must not use Brela’s systems or services to:

  • Violate any applicable Nigerian law, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act 2015, the NDPA 2023, or the Economic and Financial Crimes Act
  • Facilitate financial fraud, money laundering, or advance-fee scams
  • Distribute child sexual abuse material or any content that exploits minors
  • Facilitate terrorism, incitement to violence, or any activity that threatens national security
  • Circumvent sanctions, export control laws, or regulatory requirements

3. Hosting Services — Additional Requirements

Where Brela provides hosting or server management services, the following additional requirements apply:

  • You must not host content that is unlawful under Nigerian law or the laws of the applicable hosting jurisdiction
  • You must not use allocated server resources for cryptocurrency mining
  • You must not resell or sub-license hosting resources to third parties without written consent
  • You must maintain your website software (WordPress, plugins, themes) with reasonable security updates
  • You must not exceed allocated disk space or bandwidth without prior agreement
  • You must not host adult content, gambling content, or content promoting controlled substances unless expressly agreed in writing

4. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, including by a third party, please report it to: [email protected] or [email protected].

We investigate all reported violations promptly and take action proportionate to the severity of the violation.

5. Consequences of Violation

Violation of this AUP may result in:

  • Immediate suspension of access to the Site or services, without notice where necessary for security
  • Termination of any Service Agreement with Brela
  • Reporting to the Nigerian Police Force, NITDA, the NDPC, or other relevant authorities
  • Civil proceedings for damages caused by the violation

Brela reserves the right to preserve evidence and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies investigating any violation of Nigerian or international law.

6. No Warranty of Availability

Brela does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Site or hosted services. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, security updates, or to address violations of this AUP. Where planned maintenance is required, we will provide reasonable advance notice to affected clients.

7. Modifications

We may update this AUP at any time in response to new threats, changes in law, or changes in our services. The current version is always available at brela.agency/acceptable-use. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the current AUP.
